Beyond Safari South Africa

There is so much to see and do in South Africa. There are safaris of course, but down at the Cape region you will be awed by the richness of the plant diversity and the unusual varieties.

A little inland are the great wine regions of Paarl and Stellenbosch. uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park has the highest mountain range in Africa south of Kilimanjaro, not to overlook its rare animals and ancient rock art.

And then there is the coast. More than 1,500 miles (2,500 km) of it starting along Nambia and desert area bordering the Atlantic Ocean, wrapping around the southern tip of Africa and all the way to the subtropical border shared with Mozambique on the Indian Ocean. There are beaches to sun on, beaches for surfers and beaches for penguins.

For entertainment and gambling there is Sun City, billed as "Africa's Kingdom of Pleasure". The "do-it-yourself" safari at Kreuger National Park enables you to see the Big Five along with all of the other animals everyone always mentions.

Johannesburg (or JoBurg to the locals) offers culture, beauty, excitement, shopping and museums. Amazingly, there are now even direct flights from the USA to JoBurg. And, direct flights from London to Cape Town where you can experience fabulous Table Mountain, then Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope.

With so much more to South Africa than just safaris, each region can easily be a vacation unto itself.
